This policy explains what happens to information you give me through couragedev.com. It's short because I don't collect much.

Who I am

This website is run by Troy J Crowe, doing business as Courage Dev. I'm the person responsible for your data.

  • Mailing address: 108 W 13th St, Wilmington, DE 19801, United States
  • Email: hello@couragedev.com
  • Phone: +1 (570) 235-4687

What I collect

When you use the project form: your name, email address, phone number if you give one, company if you give one, how you'd like to be contacted, and your answers about the project: type, description, current tools, team size, website address, budget range, timing and preferred next step. If you came from the estimator and chose to send its answers, those come too.

When you use the contact form: your name, email address, topic and message.

When you email or call me: whatever you include in the email or tell me on the call, plus your email address or phone number.

Technical information: when a form is submitted, my server sees your IP address and browser type (user agent). I use these only to block spam and limit repeated submissions. My hosting provider also keeps standard server logs (IP address, pages requested, time, browser type) that don't include what you typed into a form.

The estimator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter in it is sent to me unless you press "Send this to Troy", which carries your answers into the project form for you to review before sending.

Why I use it

  • To reply to you about your project or question
  • To prepare a quote or proposal if you ask for one
  • To keep a record of our conversation if we end up working together
  • To keep the forms working and free of spam

The legal basis, where one is needed, is that you asked me to reply, and that I have a legitimate interest in running my business and protecting the site from abuse.

What I don't do

  • I don't sell your information or share it for advertising.
  • I don't put you on a marketing list. No newsletters unless you separately ask for one.
  • I don't use analytics or advertising trackers on this site.
  • I don't text you unless you ask me to.

Cookies and browser storage

This site doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies. The fonts are served from my own hosting, so loading a page doesn't send your details to a font provider.

The project form and the estimator use your browser's own storage (session storage) to remember your answers while you're filling them in, so you don't lose them if you go back a step or a submission fails. That information stays on your device and isn't sent to me unless you submit the form. Closing the browser tab clears it.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

I don't track you across sites, so there's nothing to opt out of. The site behaves the same whether or not your browser sends these signals.

Who else sees it

  • My hosting provider, which runs the server the site and forms live on.
  • My email provider, which delivers form submissions to my inbox and sends you the confirmation email.
  • My accountant or lawyer, if it's genuinely needed (for example, invoicing records if we work together).
  • Authorities, only if I'm legally required to share something.

Each of these handles data under its own terms and only as needed to provide its service.

How long I keep it

  • Inquiries that don't turn into a project: up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • If we work together: client records and invoices for about 7 years, for tax and accounting purposes.
  • IP addresses used for spam protection and rate limiting: no more than 30 days, stored in a scrambled (hashed) form.
  • Server logs kept by my host: typically 30 to 90 days. They don't contain what you typed into a form.

Your choices

You can ask me to:

  • send you a copy of the information I hold about you,
  • correct anything that's wrong,
  • delete it, unless I need to keep it for legal or accounting reasons (I'll tell you if so).

Email hello@couragedev.com. I'll respond within 30 days, and I may ask you to confirm it's really you. Asking won't affect how I treat you or what I charge you.

Security

I take reasonable steps to protect what you send: the site runs over HTTPS, form submissions go straight to email rather than sitting in a database, and access to my accounts is restricted. No method of sending or storing data is perfectly secure, so please don't send passwords, card numbers, or health or other sensitive personal data through the forms. If there are confidential files, I'll set up a secure way to share them.

Where the data is

I'm based in the United States, and so are the services I use. If you contact me from another country, your information will be handled in the US.

Children

This site isn't meant for anyone under 16, and I don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has sent me something, email me and I'll delete it.

Client project data

If we work together and I build or look after a system that holds your customers' data, that's covered by our signed proposal (and a data processing addendum where one is needed), not by this policy.

Changes

If I change this policy, I'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, I'll make it obvious on this page.
